First you need to remove the diffuser. Best to jack up the rear so you can get underneath, otherwise it could be quite difficult. Remove the plastic rivets from the bottom edge and then also press out the rivet housings. This should leave the bottom edge of the diffuser loose. Then the fun bit. The top edge of the diffuser is held in by snap-in clips but it requires a good tug in the right direction. It's easiest do do from behind and underneath by pulling down on the diffuser and pushing away from the car. Start with one top corner and once that corner is free the rest will follow quite easily.
To remove the rivets that hold the tips on you can drill the bottom ones out no problem, then knock them through with a drift. The top rivet is not so easy, I use a small spherical grinding tip on a Dremmel to grind most of the top of the rivet off, but not all. Then get a sharp cold chisel (or sharpened screwdriver) and get it under the edge of the rivet and cut off its head. You then have to knock the rivet down as you did for the bottom ones but this is not so easy as there isn't much room above. I use a small hammer on its side and for a drift I use a small allen-key bit from a screwdriver set but you can use anything short enough and about 3mm in diameter.
Once all the rivets are out and knocked through the tips just pull off.
If you are keeping the OEM diffuser you will need to remove about 1cm from the back of the new tips, best done with a 9" angle grinder. Put masking tape around where you want to cut as a guide. Clean up all the cut edges. You might be able to do it with a hacksaw but it will be very hard as the steel is very tough and you won't get a nice straight cut.
Then push on the new tips and get them all lined up nicely. Put a bit of masking tape on each one and number them as the holes in the pipes from the silencer are not in exactly the same place for each pipe so you need to ensure that each one goes back on the same pipe it was test-fitted to.
You may find that they are a bit splayed out as they are so close to one another and the part closest to the silencer will probably touch causing an undesirable gap between the outer ends of the tips. To get round this gently squeeze the back of the outer part of the tip in a vice so make it slightly oval. Wrap it in a cloth to prevent the vice scratching the surface. This slight oval won't be visible once they are fitted and should only affect the hidden part of the tip but will enable the gap to close enough.
Having got everything looking right mark the place to drill for the new rivets with a small drill. As the new tips are so hard I used a drill-press to drill the rivet holes but if you don't have a drill-press you should be able to do it with a good sharp drill bit and a hand-drill. (TIP: Buy a new drill-bit for this).
I did not bother with the top rivet as you can't get a drill in to mark the holes and the bottom two are enough, the tips will not fall off!
Then it's just a matter of rivetting in place, checking the alignment of the tips as you go, and replacing the diffuser.

I've never really considered the angle grinder as dangerous but it only takes a broken blade to come flying at you and it could maim or even kill you I've found some pretty horrific pictures of injuries caused by AG's that have made me think twice so from now on I'm wearing full protective clothing and not just a face mask!

LOL I did a how too with pics using Micks instructions was going to post it here but Mick beat me too it! It is a great write up Mick but still cant work out how to get all the tips to sit straight...I did the ovalising so they are tight together but how do you adjust them up and down!!

When I did mine (and Gary's) they were naturally aligned in a straight line and just needed tweaking up or down a little to even out any small discrepancies.
Yours look way out of line, the outer ones need to go up a bit and the inner ones come down, but I thought you said you did it that way deliberately?

If you deliberately misaligned them you should be able to deliberately align them eh?
They won't straighten up now without removing the rivets and redrilling.
If they were only a bit out you could try leaning on them a bit to tweak them down or use a jack to tweak them up, may be worth trying before you remove them and redrill. Don't lean too hard or far or you might crack the weld where the tailpipes join the silencer!

Loving this. Could you explain why you wanted them misaligned mate?!?
