used 2005 M6 for £16.5k

Postby Aled » Sun Feb 24, 2013 11:10 pm

As in the title really, i was perusing the BMW approved used site (as you do) and noticed that there is a AUC 2005 M6 on sale for £16.5k... it has 75k on the clock and a dodgy interior but surly this would be a cracking buy for a year of hassle free V10 power, or am I missing something - I guess if you had it for a year and did 10k in it, surly it would still be worth £14k??/?

Well spotted Aled.

If ever a car needed to be purchased with a cast iron warranty it's the V10 M6 / M5, I reckon it would be worth it.

The wood could come out, have the clear coat flattened and sprayed Piano Black.

A quick net search shows that car to be one of the cheapest around, amazing that they sould sell that car within the AUC network, would like to know how much they are making out of that car.

Not so good if you finance it. How can finance be 13% when the bank rate is where it is?....Governments should regulate the industry more firmly.
M3? - you know it makes sense

Ian -Yes some of the AUC rates are ludicrous, but I guess this is worst case scenario if you have poor credit rating???

Bob - I agree it is a bit of a bargain. However, my fear would be trying to sell it on once the warranty has lapsed. I think it would be near impossible to sell privately with say 85k on the clock.... I certainly wouldn't entertain the idea of buying a car of this caliber outside the AUC network or a private sale without a warranty!
I imagine part ex prices would be stupidly low too. I was following a thread on pistonhead a couple of months back with a guy trying to sell an E61 M5, the part ex offers he was getting was as low as £14k for a 2007 57k well specced car - he sold it for around £23k privately in the end.

One day I will hopefully be in a position to scratch my V10 itch, although I would want an M5 not an M6.

I've always been a bit of a fan of the M6 even if the rear end is fugly and that one certainly is a good price as long as it does come with that BMW AUC warranty.

At 74K your gonna need it as it's coming up to that sort of mileage when things will start to fail, although I think we've all had to replace some parts that you wouldn't expect to at stupid low mileages. But it makes it that bit sweeter when the warranty picks it up even if as Ian points out you have paid for it 10 fold through the intrest on the finance!

I noticed this is down to £16.2 today...it will be interesting to see how low it goes. Interestingly the same dealer as an 2006 M5, yesterday the car was advertised at £18.5k today its up to £20.5k.. stradstone pricing is really weird. I was told that they price match the lowest vehicle of that type in the area, which could explain this.

I agree Russ at this mileage it could be one thing after another that goes wrong apartfrom the eye watering fuel bills, it would be fun to own one! ;-)
