Last V10 M car officially dies
It's over - Production of the BMW M6 has officially stopped, and the naturally aspirated V10 is officially a memory.
But although the V10 M6 is dead, an all-new 6-series is due next year, and it's probably a fairly safe bet that the new twin-turbo V8 that's due to power the 2011 M5 (and already shoves the X5M and X6M along the road) will at some point find its way beneath the bonnet of the next 6-series.
But the V10 is definitively dead and, while we won't mourn the passing of the clunky SMG gearbox that went with it, the death of the sonorous 500bhp motor is a sad loss, no more hyper NA engines from BMW (that they were famous for, incl. loads of awards for best engine incl. the E46 M3, its now Turbo's, start/stop function and fuel consumption for the future unfortunately
Was never a huge fan of the looks but seeing some of the spy shots of the normal new 6 series the new M6 should be a big improvement if not with a beastly V10 in it but a twin-turbo 4.4ltr V8, still should be an animal! possibly 600bhp+ more then 555BHP for sure as the X6M has that!
A sad day for a great engine, and what a sound it made

I must be a mother as I don't dislike it's looks , not that I think it's stunning or anything but I could live with it.

lol the problem with the M6 is that it does not photograph well but it looks absolutely amazing in metal!! That car's mega.

Hello Kris, long time no see
Didn't you have an M6 at one time ?
Huge performer very quick car, I remember the TopGear test with an M6, 911 and AMV8V and the BMW had all the power to beat the rest hands down but just could not get the power down and I think that the biggest problem for the M6 was the M5, they kind of shot themselves in the foot there.
